EXCLUSIVE: MEET THE MAN BEHIND THE CELLAR MASTER
Our Cellar Master Baptiste Loiseau is a craftsman of Time. We caught up with him at the House of LOUIS XIII to find out what makes him tick.
“You are not born a cellar master, you become one.” Baptiste Loiseau
Behind every LOUIS XIII cognac are men and women who share a love of the terroir, the precious earth that gives us our unique grapes. Born in Cognac, Baptiste Loiseau developed his love of the terroir at a very young age. His maternal grandparents were market gardeners and he loved going to the grape harvests and tasting the freshly pressed juice.
LOUIS XIII demands Time and for Baptiste Loiseau, it’s a passion. From selecting the eaux-de-vie to set aside for his successors in the century to come to meticulously blending and tasting the amber nectar as it gradually evolves in traditional oak tierçons…From presenting the result after decades of ageing to the ultimate moment, sharing it with friends. Baptiste can spend hours describing all the aromas - LOUIS XIII reveals itself differently each time.
When he isn’t at work, Baptiste likes to spend quality time with his wife and two children, touring the local flea-markets or going for long walks in the rolling hills of Grande Champagne. And he loves cooking. LOUIS XIII is the ideal ingredient for creating encounters between unusual flavors that are just waiting be invented! But for him, the best time to savor it is just before lunch or dinner, when your palate is still fresh and pure.
